    • End-of-Life: While battery recycling is improving, improper disposal can lead to hazardous materials leaching into the environment. Developing robust recycling infrastructure is crucial for sustainability.
  • Electricity Source: The environmental impact of an electric golf cart is directly tied to how its electricity is generated. If your local grid relies heavily on coal-fired power plants, the indirect emissions are higher than if it’s powered by solar, wind, or hydroelectric sources.

  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance of the vehicle itself can improve efficiency and extend its overall lifespan.
  • Consider Purpose: Using an electric golf cart/LSV for appropriate short-distance travel (where a larger car would be less efficient) inherently makes it a greener choice.

The Verdict: A Step in the Right Direction

Ultimately, electric golf carts and LSVs represent a significant environmental improvement over gasoline-powered alternatives for short-distance personal transportation.
