What is WiTricity Touchless Magnetic Resonance Charging?

It might seem like magic, but it’s pure science! WiTricity’s technology utilizes magnetic resonance to transfer electrical energy wirelessly over a short distance.

In practical terms for your EVIVE golf cart, this means:

• No need to plug in to charge when at home, and no fuss. You simply park your EVIVE vehicle over your WiTricity Power Hub placed on the floor of your garage, carport, or favorite parking spot.
• Automatic charging. Once parked over the hub, charging begins automatically. No more remembering to plug in; no risk of forgetting to charge.  No dangling cord.
• Safe and efficient. WiTricity’s technology is designed for safety and delivers power efficiently, ensuring your EcoBattery is charged optimally every time.

How Does it Work? The Science Behind the Seamless Charge

WiTricity’s patented magnetic resonance (MR) technology enables the highly efficient transfer of power over the air between the Power Hub and a Receiver mounted to the underside of your electric vehicle, without any physical connection.

Resonant coils—Both the Power Hub and Receiver have coils tuned to the same resonant frequency, much like a radio tuned to pick up a specific station. Once your equipped EVIVE vehicle is parked over its Power Hub, charging begins automatically. AC power flows into the Power Hub, which generates an oscillating magnetic field. That magnetic field is induced onto the Receiver.

Energy transfer over the air—Unlike a wireless phone charger, which requires the charger and the device to be very close together, the Receiver captures the oscillating magnetic field from the Power Hub over a significant air gap, which can range from 2 to 5 inches.

Conversion to electricity – AC voltage induced in the coil in the receiver is then converted to DC electric output which is connected to the battery which in turn will charge up.

When your EVIVE’s Receiver is aligned over the Power Hub, their magnetic fields resonate at the same frequency. This resonance allows energy to be transferred wirelessly from the Power Hub to your golf cart’s EcoBattery, converting it into electricity to charge your battery. It’s a highly efficient and safe method of power transfer.

Q: Do I need special equipment at home?

A: Yes, but all you will need is your WiTricity charging hub plugged in to normal wall power (15a or higher) at your desired parking location. 

Q: How do I know if my cart is charging?

A: Your EVIVE’s display will indicate when wireless charging is active. 

Q: Is it safe for people and pets?

A: Absolutely. WiTricity technology operates at frequencies that are safe for people, pets, and electronics. The magnetic fields are localized and designed to meet all relevant safety and FCC standards.

Q: What if I don’t park perfectly?

A: The system allows for a degree of misalignment, meaning you don’t have to be millimeter-perfect. A visual alignment aid is provided to guide you to ensure optimal parking for charging.

Q: The charging must be much slower, right?

A: This is a common question, possibly based on inductive phone charging conceptions.  And while the technologies share some similarities, this is not one of them.  Many owners will experience faster charging than they have ever experienced with previous like capacity battery charging.

Q: Can I still charge with a cable if I need to?
